Week 3: Framing

Again I couldn’t choose just one.. so there’s 1 of my pup who amazingly sat behind the stool like this completely unprompted 🙌🏻 color & bw

The other 2 are my kiddos just being kids ♥️ also in color and & bw bc I’m TRYING to not have all black and white images for all of my photos lol!

I’m a little behind on posting…. Bc of a bajil

I’m a little behind on posting…. Bc of a bajillion reasons 😂 but that didn’t mean I didn’t actually take the photos! Bc I did!
Week 2 was focusing on the rule of thirds.
Also, I’m noticing that I like our daily life pics better in black and white. Weird, idk why 🤷🏼‍♀️

I’ve always wanted to do a project 365 or someth

I’ve always wanted to do a project 365 or something similar but doing a photo a day with my camera AND editing it AND posting on social is just too much for me in this season of life.

So, I decided to do @angie_mahlke ‘s project 52 through @hellostoryteller ! Much more doable in this season of life I’m in!

I’m really excited to be learning from Angie and from all of the other photographers taking the class. I’m hoping to grow and stretch and gain knowledge through all of them!

Week 1: Center Composition
It was a tough week here. Lots of sickness in our family and some emergencies outside of our immediate family, among other things. We spent a lot of time in the couch- reading, watching tv, being together, and of course gaming, as witnessed in this photo 🤭

I walked past these during youth group tonight. I

I walked past these during youth group tonight. I had walked past them multiple times before. At first I was all “oh look, new stuff on the walls, cool”

Then it hit me. *I* took these photos. *I* took photos hanging on the walls of my church. I know that there are probably some of you thinking thoughts along the lines of, “ok, and? You’re a photographer, that’s what happens” or maybe you’re thinking more “ ok, Katrina don’t be so prideful”.…. Or who knows…

But you’re missing the point. These photos will show people about our church. About God.

These photos represent SO much more than you could ever imagine.

They represent a God given passion of capturing emotion, of capturing life, of capturing GOD AT WORK. They represent that I’m doing what God has called me to do, being exactly where He wants me to be right now. (Along with being a mom, wife, homeschooling, ya know…)

They represent years of prayers. They represent growth. They represent that even though you may not think you have any “gifts” or “talents” to use, you probably do. And so much more that I really can’t even put into words right now.

I’m sure some of you still think I’ve lost my marbles for being so emotional about some photos I took being up on a wall, but that’s ok. I’m weird and I own it lol

Hey friends!!! I figured since it’s my bday I’d do a quick Re-introduction on here!! Btw taking a selfie with a giant birthday hat (bought by my youngest) is not awkward at all 😜🤣

I thought about doing 1 fact for every year of my age but ummm that would way too long and boring 😂😂 so we’re going with 10! Lol

1. I’m a homeschool mom! I couldn’t imagine NOT homeschooling. It definitely has its challenges but I thank God so much for calling me to this!
2. I love gardening! I grew up with my grandparents having a farm and I miss it so much! I have a little garden in my backyard, it makes me happy!!
3. I love piercings!! I currently have 7. I didn’t get anymore for a long time due to breastfeeding and pregnancy but…. now, I can’t wait to go get more!
4. Hubby and I have been together since we were 17 ♥️🥰
5. I LOVE sports and I’m super competitive 😬
6. Thunderstorms are my fav, there’s just something about sitting with a cup of tea and a book during a thunderstorm 😍
7. I like change.. I know it’s weird. But change is exciting!! Well, in most cases… I mean obvi I don’t like BAD change 🤷🏼‍♀️

And now 1 from each of my kids!
8. I’m lovable (7 year old) well that’s a relief 😅
9. I’m funny (10 year old) this is not something I would say to describe myself at all lol
10. Apparently the 13 year old thinks the same as the 10 year old….. why did I even ask them?!

Bonus: I prayed for the life I have right now and I am so incredibly grateful that God has answered my prayers (and that He didn’t answer some of them). The friends I have, the church I’m a part of, my photography business…. It’s all been part of my prayers for years, it wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows to get here, but I thank God for getting me here.

Sometimes ya just gotta make it special somehow. The weeks after the holidays are over can be super crazy in and of themselves but add in a bunch of snow, weird work schedules for daddy, and trying to get back into our homeschool rhythm…. We just needed something fun and out of the ordinary!!
